What changes in winter
Rain, mud in the paddock and damp bedding keep the hoof wet for hours. The frog stays damp and dark, the grooves trap dirt and the horn constantly goes from wet to dry. That's why winter care starts with the frog.
The winter routine, step by step
- Clean the hoof well, removing mud and bedding from the grooves.
- Spray SOS Hoof into the frog and grooves with the trigger sprayer: a few seconds.
- Brush Hoof Pro onto wall and sole to protect them from water and mud.
- On working days, after riding, two sprays of Hoof Empower on sole, frog and wall.
What each product does
SOS Hoof is a natural sanitising and astringent spray designed for the frog: it helps a damp, dark frog get dry again. Hoof Pro protects against water, mud and drying out. Hoof Empower keeps the hoof strong every day. SOS Hoof and Hoof Empower come together in the Hoof Rescue Kit.
