Sweaty horse after work: how to dry it in minutes, even in winter

Team ON-H Updated October 21, 2026 2 min read

● The gesture On the sweaty coat
In short

Remove excess sweat with a sweat scraper, spray DryON on the sweaty areas (neck, shoulders, chest, flanks and back, never towards the head), spread it with a cloth and let it dry for a few minutes. Then brush and, if it's cold, put the rug on a dry horse.

Why not leave it wet

A coat soaked with sweat dries slowly, especially in winter and on damp days. The hair gets crusty and stiff, the rug soaks it up and the horse stays wet underneath for hours. Hosing down isn't always possible: it's cold, there's no warm water, or another horse is waiting.

How to dry it, step by step

  1. Remove excess sweat with the sweat scraper.
  2. Shake the bottle and spray DryON on the sweaty coat: neck, shoulders, chest, flanks, back and saddle area. Don't spray towards the head.
  3. Spread it with a cloth or a soft sponge.
  4. Let it dry for a few minutes. No need to rinse.
  5. Brush to finish the coat and, if needed, put on the rug.

In winter, before the rug

This is when DryON helps most. Instead of rugging a horse that is still wet and waiting for the rug to do the rest, you dry it first: the rug goes on a dry coat. The same goes before loading it into the trailer or taking it back to the paddock.

What's inside

Cosmetic-grade ethyl alcohol, which evaporates quickly and carries the moisture away; water and hydrosols; aloe vera and vegetable glycerin for a soft coat; sweet orange and lavender for a delicate scent. It isn't greasy and doesn't weigh the coat down.

Frequently asked questions

Does DryON replace hosing down?

No. Hosing is still useful to wash off mud and heavy dirt. DryON is for sweat after work, when you want to dry quickly without wetting the whole horse.

Can I use it every day?

Yes, it's made for the daily routine after work.

How long does a bottle last?

It depends on how often you work your horse and how much it sweats. The 500 ml bottle lasts about a week with frequent use; if you work every day or have several horses, the 1-litre size is better value.

Can it be used in competition?

Yes. We have checked every ingredient against the FEI list of prohibited substances.

Does it leave the coat greasy?

No, the coat stays dry and soft.
